New Media Installation [Arduino]
Apparition is a kinetic installation designed to expose the deceptive nature of video as a medium. The idea and concept stem’s from research into early stage effects (Example: Peppers Ghost) and ultimately ended on modern film techniques and CGI. The kinetic art installation uses 30 servos which each form part of a rack and pinion. Every servo is controlled by a unique ‘random’ function, set in Arduino. This means that it is extremely unlikely that the movement would repeat the same pattern. The surfaces movement is used to distort a digital projection (see video)
